this is my salute to 2 of my all time favourite composers/artists, donald fagen (& walter becker). i originally had the title ‘little old me’ for this but i got to thinking glenn & i should stretch ourselves with the lyric on this & so i came up with the title ‘miss josephine’. it‘s based loosely around a crush i had on a girl who worked @ my local deli back in the mid 90’s. i called in everyday to see her to buy a caramel slice but i never did get the courage to ask her out but the story made for a cool song though! this features the great barry leef on lead vocals.
4pm cold monday afternoon
make my way to my favourite deli
see ya soon
way you look behind that counter
gets me through
ain’t nobody does barista the way you do
if you’re gonna surrender
better off with a guy like me
when the daytime turns to nighttime
can’t face one single day
without you around
can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t think
like a king without a clue
i’m a nowhere man
i never meant to offend her
some things are meant to be
hanging out with a guy like me
love could this be love?
have i found love?
life goes on, things change
in the neighborhood
disappear without a trace
could’ve been so good
changed my life, clothes job & address
if you could see
there’s no happy ever after
for a guy like me
an affair to remember
starring you & me
real life on the silver screen
